Heintzeman: Environment Bill Balances Fiscal Responsibility with Outdoor Priorities
St. Paul, MN – Today, the Minnesota House passed the Environment and Natural Resources Finance bill. As co-chair of the committee, Representative Josh Heintzeman (R-Nisswa) played a key role in shaping a bill that protects Minnesota’s natural resources, support's outdoor recreation, and ensures responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
“This bill is the result of hard work and tough negotiations,” said Heintzeman. “We prioritized efficient spending, avoided wasteful earmarks, and focused on what matters most—keeping our environment healthy and our outdoor traditions strong."
The bill includes support for parks, trails, conservation work, and clean water programs without raising any fees that were initially proposed in the Walz administration's budget.
“We proved that it’s possible to pass a strong environmental bill without irresponsible spending,” Heintzeman added. “That’s a win for Minnesota families, taxpayers, and future generations.”
The bill passed with a final vote of 129-5 and will move forward in the legislative process.
