Rep. Cal Warwas Issues Statement on Hibbing Taconite Layoffs 

Saint Paul, MN – Hibbing Taconite has announced that approximately 45 positions will be eliminated on February 1st, as part of a restructuring based on operational needs. Representative Cal Warwas (R – Clinton Township) issued the following statement: 

“In Northern Minnesota, we're a family. This is more hard news for my brothers & sisters over at the Steelworkers Local 2705, and their affected management staff. Any loss of mining jobs on the Range is felt well beyond the plant gates as these jobs support other industries also.” 

“Our Iron Range workforce has incredible skill, and is essential to Minnesota’s economy. I will continue working to support our miners, and stay available to assist in any way I can.”
