Named to Health & Human Services and Tax Committees
ST. PAUL Recently elected State Representative Carl Jacobson (R-Vadnais Heights) took the oath of office today, officially beginning his first term of office representing voters in District 53B, which includes the cities of Gem Lake, Little Canada, North Oaks, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake, and White Bear Township.
In a ceremony presided over by Minnesota Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer, Jacobson joined with fellow members of the Minnesota House of Representatives in taking the oath of office. "I am honored to be a part of Minnesota's first legislative session of the millenium," said Jacobson. "I will continue to fight to lower Minnesota's burdensome taxes, improve Minnesota's roads, strengthen education, and reduce violent crime."
Earlier, Representative Jacobson received his committee assignments for the 2001-2002 legislative term. He will serve on the House Health & Human Services Policy as well as the full Tax Committee and Sales & Income Tax Division of the Tax Committee.
"My committee assignments are a good match for the district and for my skills," Jacobson said. "As a certified public accountant, I see first hand the burden Minnesota's tax system places on families and businesses. It is my goal to get Minnesota out of the top ten in taxes."
Jacobson also received his capitol office assignment, phone number, and e-mail address. Constituents may contact him at 429 State Office Building, 100 Constitution Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55155. His legislative phone number is (651) 296-7153 and his e-mail address is rep.carl.jacobson@house.leg.state.mn.us.
"I look forward to continuing to serve the people of House District 53B in the Minnesota House of Representatives," said Jacobson. "Please feel free to contact me to share your questions, comments and opinions on the issues the legislature will deal with in the upcoming session." ###
