To the Editor,
I want to thank everyone who participated at their party caucuses last Tuesday evening. Your participation throughout the election process is an essential part of the democratic process, and I applaud your dedication and involvement in one of the most fundamental stages party caucuses.
Participating in the caucus process shows that you care about the quality of candidates we elect to public offices and how we react to the important issues facing us whether that is education, taxes or the welfare of our citizens. Your participating also demonstrates that you care about the direction in which our state is heading, and that you are willing to sacrifice some of your personal time and energy to candidates and issues you support.
While these caucuses were only the first step in the elections of 2002, I want to encourage you to stay involved in the political process, ask questions of the candidates, and stay informed about the issues facing the state.
As you know, the Legislature is still in session and we're working to solve the second phase of Minnesota's budget deficit. We are also considering a wide range of other issues, including funding for transportation, state bonding projects, and the possibility of a stadium plan. Again, I want to personally thank you for attending your precinct caucus. Your attendance shows that you care about what's happening in our community, our state, and our nation.
