NEWS RELEASE
REPRESENTATIVE PHIL KRINKI E FILES
FOR RE-ELECTION TO THE MINNESOTA HOUSE

ST. PAUL State Representative Phil Krinkie, R-Shoreview, filed for re-election this week. Krinkie vowed to continue his efforts for common sense decision making, responsible and accountable government, and fiscally responsible initiatives resulting in substantially lower taxes for the people of Minnesota.

"We have made progress in reducing the burden of taxes on the people of Minnesota over the last two years, but we haven't gone far enough to stop the ongoing over-collection of taxes. I will continue to fight for policies that protect the taxpayers and their hard earned money," Krinkie said.

Krinkie is known for his common sense approach to lawmaking and his fiscal responsibility. Over the last two years, he has led the fight to stop the proposed Hiawatha Light Rail Line, which is expected to cost the Minnesota taxpayers more than $750 million to construct the 11 mile line. He is also an outspoken proponent of government reform and additional accountability for state agencies.

"I am running for re-election because Minnesotans are still over-taxed," Krinkie continued. "We need to continue pushing for tax cuts and focusing on important issues like education. Over the last two years we achieved more than $2.2 billion in tax cuts while also increasing K-12 education funding by 14 percent."

"Government is supposed to be by and for the people," Krinkie concluded. "I am committed to representing the people of my district and the policies that are in the best interest of the taxpayers of this great state. I make no apologies for defending the rights of our state residents to keep more of their money."

Krinkie represents the communities of Shoreview, Arden Hills and Circle Pines. He is the owner of Snelling Companies, a heating and cooling business located in St. Paul.

Rep. Krinkie is the Chair of the House State Government Finance Committee and also serves on the Capital Investment; Governmental Operations & Veterans Affairs Policy; and Ways & Means Committees.
