NEWS RELEASE
REP. LINDNER SHOWS HIGH SCHOOL INTERN THE ROPES AT THE CAPITOL

ST. PAUL State Representative Arlon Lindner (R-Corcoran) is using his position in the Legislature to teach the next generation about public service.

Rep. Lindner is working with Somer Heins, a senior at Maple Grove Senior High. Somer, who lives in Rogers, is interning for Rep. Lindner during the 2002 Legislative Session.

Somer said she has always been interested in politics, and decided to e-mail her local legislators and ask if they would be interested in having her intern for them during session. Lindner accepted, and has been showing Somer the ropes around the State Capitol for the past few weeks.

"I'm helping Rep. Lindner with some of his general day to day duties, and observing him during committee hearings and during floor sessions," said Somer. "It has been a really good education so far."

Somer plans on attending The University of St. Thomas in the fall, with a major in journalism and law.
