NEWS RELEASE
REP. STANEK URGES QUICK COMPLETION OF 1-94 ROAD CONSTRUCTION

ST. PAUL State Representative Rich Stanek is urging the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to complete the I-94 road construction projects in Maple Grove as soon as possible.

"For people living in the Maple Grove area, the construction on I-94 is a source of daily frustration. Driving times and commutes are longer with the increased traffic congestion caused by the construction. Simple errands have become major inconveniences with the traffic back- ups. The sooner we can have all lanes open and running at full speed the better," said Rep. Stanek.

Rep. Stanek has recently been in contact with officials from MnDOT, and has requested that they speed up the pace of construction by increasing the number of shifts and working around the clock so the project will be done quicker. The road construction project currently under construction on I-94 between the Crow River and I-494 is actually two projects, a shoulder repair/replacement over the entire length and a bridge deck replacement/widening over Elm Creek and Rice Lake which affects four bridges.

"Time is a precious commodity with the busy schedules that families are faced with these days. Especially for daily commuters in the area, the time spent stalled in a traffic bottleneck means less time for parents to spend with their families, and less time for people to spend doing the summer activities they like to do," explained Rep. Stanek. "It is critical that the I-94 project be finished so these time-wasting bottlenecks can be alleviated."

Rep. Stanek can be reached at 543 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155; by phone at (651) 296-5502; or by e-mail at rep.rich.stanek@house.leg.state.mn.us. For periodic updates on the legislative session, visit www.house.mn/33B and click on "Email Updates."
