NEWS RELEASE
SLEEPY EYE STUDENT SERVES AS PAGE AT CAPITOL

ST. PAUL -- Jessica Mattes, a high school student from Sleepy Eye, served as a high school page at the State Capitol the week of February 14-18. She was sponsored by Rep. James Clark (R-Springfield).

High school pages perform numerous jobs during the legislative session, running errands and handing out important paperwork during House floor sessions. Every legislative session, hundreds of high school students spend a week at the Capitol working as a page.

"I'm glad to see that students from our area are participating in the page program," said Rep. Clark. "I would encourage all students who are interested in government to consider participating."

Students who will be juniors next year are eligible for application to the program. Most high school guidance counselors have application forms. For further information, interested students can call the House Sergeant at Arms Office at 651-296-4860.
