The House of Representatives convened at
12:00 noon and was called to order by Lisa Demuth, Speaker of the House.
Prayer was offered by Liz Olson, former
Representative, Duluth, Minnesota.
The members of the House gave the pledge
of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America led by Girl Scout
Troops 18788, 18826 and 19017 from Champlin, Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park,
Minnesota.
Speaker Demuth introduced the new House member, Representative
Xp Lee from District 34B and announced that Representative Lee, X., had
previously been administered and subscribed to the oath of office on Friday,
September 26, 2025 and that the election certificate for Representative Lee,
X., was on file. Representative Lee, X.,
was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 to
replace Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated on Saturday, June
14, 2025.
Speaker Demuth introduced the new House member, Representative
Shelley Buck from District 47A and announced that Representative Buck had
previously been administered and subscribed to the oath of office on Tuesday,
February 3, 2026 and that the election certificate for Representative Buck was
on file. Representative Buck was elected
in a special election held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 to replace
Representative Hemmingsen‑Jaeger, whose resignation was effective on Monday,
November 17, 2025.
Speaker Demuth introduced the new House member, Representative Meg Luger-Nikolai from District 64A and announced that Representative Luger-Nikolai had previously been administered and subscribed to the oath of office on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 and that the election certificate for Representative Luger-Nikolai was on file. Representative Luger-Nikolai was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 to replace Representative Her, whose resignation was effective on Monday, November 17, 2025.
