MINUTES


Representative Morrie Lanning, Vice-Chair of the Local Government Committee, called the twenty-fourth meeting to order at 12:34 P.M. on Monday, April 11, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


WARDLOW, Lynn moved the Minutes of April 6, 2005, be approved as prepared by the Clerk. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF2042 (Cornish) Project Riverbend Board eliminated.

CORNISH, Tony moved HF2042, the first engrossment, be recommended to pass.

As the Committee heard all of those wishing to testify on April 4, 2005, the question re-occurred on the Cornish Motion that HF2042, the first engrossment, be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF2187 (Abrams) Hennepin County Medical Center governance provided, and county subsidiary corporation providing healthcare and related services created.

LANNING, Morrie moved HF2187 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law and Elections.

The following provided testimony on and responded to the Committee’s questions regarding HF2187:

LANNING, Morrie moved to recommend HF2187 be amended as follows:

The Lanning Motion Prevailed.

There being no further testimony, pro or con, the question re-occurred on the Lanning Motion as amended to recommend HF2187 be amended, and when so amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law and Elections. THE MOTION PREVAILED


SF0879 (Hosch) State primary election eliminated in areas where no nominee must be selected for any office in that municipality or county.

HOSCH, Larry moved SF0879, as passed by the Senate, be recommended to pass.

Representative Larry Hosch provided testimony on and responded to the Committee’s questions regarding SF0879.

There being no further testimony, pro or con, the question re-occurred on the Hosch Motion that SF0879 be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF1068 (Howes) County review and approval of shoreland subdivisions required.

LANNING, Morrie moved HF1068 be recommended to pass.

Representative Larry Howes provided testimony on and responded to the Committee’s questions regarding HF1068.

There being no further testimony, pro or con, the question re-occurred on the Lanning Motion that HF1068 be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Without objection the meeting was adjourned at 1:58 PM.
