MINUTES


Representative Steve Smith, Chair of the Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee, called the eighth meeting to order at 10:22 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Cornish moved the minutes from the January 27, 2005 Public Safety Policy and Finance Meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Smith moved HF208 relating to Blue Earth fire and police station funding provided, bonds issued, and money provided.

Rep. Gunther presented HF208.

Testifying on HF208:

Rep. Smith laid HF208 over for possible committee capital bonding recommendations.

Rep. Smith moved HF452 relating to Minnesota Correctional Facility - Faribault Phase 1 expansion bonds issued and money appropriated.

Rep. Brod presented HF452.

Rep. Smith laid HF452 over for possible committee capital bonding recommendations.

Rep. Murphy moved HF107 relating to Faribault Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) Phase 1 expansion and prison industries building funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Rep. Fritz presented HF107.

Rep. Murphy moved to orally amend HF107 (see attached). THE AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED.


Rep. Eastlund moved orally page 1, delete lines 13-17 and
Page 1, line 21 delete "85,344,000" and insert 84,844,000. THE AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED.

Rep. Smith laid HF107 over for possible committee capital bonding recommendations.

Rep. Smith moved HF469 relating to Stillwater correctional facility high security unit funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated.

Rep. Charron presented HF469.

Testifying on HF469:

Dan Friesse, Warden, Stillwater Correctional Facility.

Rep. Smith laid HF469 over for possible committee capital bonding recommendations.
