AGRICULTURE, RURAL ECONOMIES AND VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

MINUTES


Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:33 A.M. on, January 24, 2007, in Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Hamilton moved approval of the minutes from January 22, 2007.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Dr. Jack Geller, President of the Center for Rural Policy and Development gave an overview of his agency. Dr. Geller answered questions from members of the committee.

Chair Otremba referred the following House Files to the Division of Veteran Affairs:

HF 272 (Haws) Firearms safety and usage training certificates continuation provided while soldiers and essential employees are engaged in active military service.

HF 279 (Haws) War Orphans Act educational benefits eligibility clarified and extended for surviving military spouses and children.

HF 291 (Dominguez) Veterans home employees granted commissary privileges when working double shifts.


The meeting was adjourned at 9:28 A.M.
