MINUTES


Representative David Dill, Chair, called the meeting to order at 4:04 P.M. on Monday, January 29th, 2007, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Members present:

A quorum was present.

Representative Hoppe moved approval of the minutes of January 22nd, 2007. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED.

Chairman Dill moved to reconsider HF 299. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The committee watched a video on flying silver carp.

Steve Hirsch and Jay Rendall, DNR, gave a presentation on invasive species and answered questions from the committee.

HF 74 (Hansen) Great Lakes; President and Congress memorialized, by resolution, to protect the Great Lakes from aquatic invasive species.

Chairman Dill moved HF 74 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources with a recommended re-referral to the General Register.

Representative Hansen incorporated an oral amendment into the A07-0009 amendment as follows:
On line 1.8, after killing, add "viral haemorrhagic septicaemia".
The amendment was incorporated.

Representative Hansen moved the A07-0009 amendment, as incorporated. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Hansen, Gary Botzek, Minnesota Conservation Federation, and Lance Ness, Fish and Wildlife Alliance testified to HF 74.

Chairman Dill renewed his motion that HF 74, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources with a recommended re-referral to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
