MINUTES


Representative Mary Murphy, Chair, called the second meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Murphy called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

Benjamin Friesen of Minneapolis, Teacher at Hopkins West Junior High School, spoke on how he uses technology in the classroom to make classes relevant and provide feedback to students.

A quorum was present at 4:06 p.m.

Benjamin Friesen gave an 8th grade Earth Science lesson to the committee.

Dr. Dirk Mattson of Roseville, Director of Research and Assessment at the Minnesota Department of Education, administered the 5th grade reading comprehension Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments Series II.

Dr. Dirk Mattson administered the 8th grade science Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments Series II.

Dr. Dirk Mattson administered the 11th grade math Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments Series II.

Dr. Dirk Mattson spoke about the development and building of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments Series II.
