MINUTES


Representative Tom Rukavina, Chair of the Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 10:05 A.M. on Monday, April 2, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Rukavina invited Representative Michael Nelson to present HF 1283.

Representative Bly moved that HF 1283 be recommended to pass and be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Education Finance and Economic Competitiveness Finance Division.

Gary Thaden, Government Affairs Director, National Electrical Contractors Association, introduced himself and offered testimony regarding HF 1283.

Representative Bly renewed his motion to amend HF 1283 with the amendment HO797A38, attached. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Brynaert moved that HF 2385 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Rules and Legislative Administration Committee.

Representative Solberg presented HF 2385.

Representative Brynaert moved that HF 2385 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Rules and Legislative Administration Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Norton moved that the minutes of the March 27, 2007 meeting be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Rukavina invited Representative Tom Huntley to present HF 305.

Representative Rukavina moved that SF 238 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Education Finance and Economic Competitiveness Finance Division.

Representative Rukavina moved that HF 305 be substituted for SF 238. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Huntley presented HF 305.

Representative Rukavina moved to amend HF 305 with the amendment HO305A38, attached.

Mike Gengler, Gulden's Restaurant and Bar, Maplewood, Minnesota, introduced himself and provided testimony in opposition to HF 305.

Marty Strub, Industry Liaison, Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 10, introduced himself and testified in opposition to HF 305.
