MINUTES


Representative Juhnke, Chair of Committee on Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Division, called the meeting to order at March 23, 2010 at 10:37 AM in the Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Brown moves that the minutes from March 16th be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Juhnke moved that HF2678 (Livestock investment grants funding provided, bonds issued, and money appropriated) be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

Representative Juhnke moves to amend H2678 (see attached H2678DE1, delete everything amendment). THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Representative Juhnke presented HF2678 as amended, (Agriculture and Veterans Affairs Omnibus Bill).

The following people provided testimony on HF2678 as amended:
Bert Black, MN Secretary of State
Doug Spanier, MN Department of Agriculture
Bill Bond, MN Crop Production Retailers
Thom Peterson, MN Farmers Union testified

Representative Juhnke laid over HF2678 as amended.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:23 PM.

Bills Added:
  • HF2678 (Juhnke) - Agriculture and veteran affairs provisions and programs changed, development and use of industrialized hemp authorized and regulated, terms and procedures clarified, record keeping provisions changed, planning for additional veteran cemeteries required, and money appropriated.

There will be a DE amendment to add the ag & vets omnibus bill to HF2678. The bill will be presented during this hearing and amended during the March 24 hearing.
