MINUTES


Representative Mindy Greiling, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 5:30PM on March 31, 2009, in the Little Theater of Farmington High School, 800 Denmark Ave, Farmington, MN 55024.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Introductions and welcome by the committee.

Representative Garofalo assumed the gavel at 7:05pm.

The following individuals provided an overview of education funding in their school districts:
Dr. Brad Meeks, Superintendent, Farmington Public Schools
Dr. Christine Weymouth, Assistant Superintendent, Farmington Public Schools
Jeff Priess, Director of Finance, Farmington Public Schools
Dr. Gary Amoroso, Superintendent, Lakeville Public Schools
Judy Keliher, Chair, Lakeville Public Schools School Board

Public testimony on education funding in Minnesota was provided by the following individuals:
Glenn Woodhouse, Director, Randolph Public Schools School Board
Randy Anderson, Finance Director, Elk River ISD 728
Todd Karich, teacher, Farmington Public Schools
Denise Specht, Secretary-Treasurer, Education Minnesota
Craig Davis, citizen, Farmington
Peggy Januschka, teacher, Farmington Public Schools

The meeting was adjourned at 7PM.

HF2033 (Faust) Research-based professional development funding provided for the St. Croix River Education District, "response to intervention" problem solving included, money appropriated.
HF1046 (Mariani) Minnesota reading corps program established, and money appropriated.
HF1177 (Garofalo) Early graduation achievement scholarship program established, money appropriated.
HF1702 (Davnie) Grants authorized for the concurrent enrollment programs in the same manner as advanced placement and international baccalaureate programs, and money appropriated.
HF751 (Benson) School districts authorized to create site-governed schools, and money appropriated.
