Representative Maria Ruud chaired and began the twenty-fifth meeting of the Health Care and Human Services Finance Division starting at 1:06 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was not present.

Jayne Rankin, Budget Director and Ann Berg of Department of Human Services gave an overview of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in relation to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Section 5001: Increased Federal Medical Assistance Percentage.

A quorum was present at 1:08 p.m. and Chairwoman Ruud formally called the meeting to order. The committee legislative assistant noted the roll:

HF 8 (Simon) - Minnesota False Claims Act established

The Chair moved HF 8 be recommended to pass, as previously amended, and returned to the Committee on Finance.

The Chair further instructed the Department of Human Services to absorb the fiscal cost.
