MINUTES


Representative Winkler, Vice-Chair of the Division, called the meeting to order at 1:08 P.M. on April 21, 2009 in Room 118 of the State Capitol.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.

A quorum was present at 1:11 P.M.

Representative Kahn moved that the minutes of April 7, 2009 and April 14, 2009 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Winkler gave an overview of the 35W victim’s compensation fund bill.

Attorney’s Michael Tewksbury, Susan M. Holden and Steven J. Kirsch, all from the Special Master Panel, which considered claims, made offers & entered into settlement agreements with survivors on behalf of the state, gave an overview of their process and the final results.

Chris Messerly, Pro Bono Attorney for some of the survivors, explained his role in the process and said that the survivors were pleased with how well it worked and what came out of it.

Survivors Mercedes Gorden (Rudh) and Jennifer Holms, said the panel did a wonderful job and that they were grateful for all of the help they received.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:16 P.M.
