Representative Hornstein, Chair of the Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Division, called the meeting to order at 1:04 P.M. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building. The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF486 (Eastlund) Trunk highway system routes removed or altered. Eric Rudeen of MnDOT assisted in presenting the bill. Rep. Hornstein moved the bill and the following oral amendment:

On page 1, delete section 1 and renumber the following sections

THE MOTION PREVAILED. Rep. Hornstein moved that HF486, as amended, be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF672 (Dettmer) Allowing buses on non-metro freeway shoulders. Eric Rudeen of MnDOT, assisted in presenting the bill. Rep. Hornstein moved the author’s A09-0073 amendment with the following oral amendment:
On page 1, line 17, delete: "and certified"

After discussion and without adopting the amendment, HF672 was laid over.

HF575 (Simon) THE MOTION PREVAILED. Home-school student driving instruction permit provisions modified. Gary Tsifrin, Chief Operating Officer of DriversEd.com, spoke to the bill. Rep. Zellers moved adoption of the H0575DE2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. The following spoke to the bill:

HF994 (Lieder) State Hazardous materials registration and permit requirements abolished. Bob Zelenka, MN Grain and Feed Association and John Kerr, Dept. of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security, assisted in presenting the bill. Rep. Lieder moved adoption of the H0994A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. Rep. Lieder moved that HF994, as amended, be recommended to pass and rereferred to the Transportation Finance and Policy Division. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Davids moved the minutes of February 25, 2009, THE MOTION PREVAILED.
