CIVIL JUSTICE POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES



Representative Mullery, Chair, called the meeting to order at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

H.F. 695 (Hilstrom): A bill for an act relating to marriage; clarifying and modifying certain terms and procedures; specifying forms; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, sections 517.02; 517.03, subdivision 2; 517.04; 517.05; 517.06; 517.07; 517.08, subdivisions 1a, 1b; 517.10; 517.101; 517.13.

Representative Hilstrom moved adoption of the H0695A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Hilstrom presented her bill and moved that, H.F. 695, as amended, be recommended to pass and when so passed be placed on the General Register.

H.F. 811, the First Engrossment (Davids): A bill for an act relating to insurance; increasing certain maximum dollar amounts on protection for policyholders of insolvent life and health insurance companies to provide greater comparability with limits of federal deposit insurance of bank accounts; updating certain other dollar amounts to reflect inflation adjustments already made by law; removing a certain prohibited sales practice; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, sections 61B.19, subdivisions 4, 6; 61B.28, subdivision 8; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 61B.28, subdivision 4.

Representative Kulick Jackson moved H.F. 811, the First Engrossment, before the committee.

Representative Mahoney moved adoption of the TP-A01 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Davids presented his bill.

Representative Kulick Jackson moved that H.F. 811, the First Engrossment, as amended, be recommended to pass and when so passed be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.



H.F. 2082 (Hortman): A bill for an act relating to property; enacting the Uniform Disclaimer of Property Interests Act; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 524; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2008, sections 501B.86; 525.532.

Representative Hortman presented her bill and moved that H.F. 2082 be recommended to pass and when so passed be placed on the General Register.

Representative Hortman presented her bill and moved that H.F. 1228 be recommended to pass and when so passed be placed on the General Register.

Representative Hortman withdrew her earlier motion and the bill was laid over for interim study.

H.F. 2082 was taken from the table.
