Representative Paul Thissen, Chair of the Health Care and Human Services Policy and Oversight Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:15 P.M. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF666 (Norton) Nursing home and home care regulations modified

Representative Thissen moved HF666.

Representative Thissen moved the H0666DE2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Doug Beardsley, Vice President of Member Services, Care Providers of Minnesota

HF666, as amended, was laid over for possible inclusion in a long-term care omnibus bill.

Vice-Chair Liebling assumed the gavel at 4:00 P.M.

HF936 (Thissen) Communities for a lifetime criteria specified, and Minnesota Board on Aging and commissioner of employment and economic development required to develop recommendations on the designation of communities for a lifetime

Representative Thissen moved that HF936 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections.

Dawn Simonson, Executive Director, Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, Partner, Minnesota Leadership Council on Aging

Representative Loeffler moved to amend HF936 as follows:

Page 1, line18 after "means" insert "counties,"

THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Loeffler moved to amend HF936 as follows:

Page 1, line 22 after "extended" insert "within a reasonable distance"

THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Thissen renewed his motion that HF936, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
