MINUTES

Representative Bruce Anderson, Chair of the Veterans Services Division Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:33 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012, in the basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Davids moved that the minutes of February 13, 2012, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The committee heard testimony on Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MAC-V).

HF 2100 (Kriesel) Veterans and spouses of a disabled or deceased veteran hiring and promotion preference by private employer permitted.

Representative Kriesel moved HF 2100 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Commerce and Regulatory Reform.

The committee heard testimony on HF 2100.

Representative Kriesel renewed his motion that HF 2100 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Commerce and Regulatory Reform. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 2260 (Dettmer) Congress and the President of the United States memorialized to amend federal veterans cemetery law to expand eligibility for burial in state veterans cemeteries developed with federal funding to include allied Hmong-American and Lao-American veterans of America's Secret War in Laos.

Representative Dettmer moved HF 2260 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Representative Dettmer moved HF 2261 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance.
