MINUTES

Representative Marquart, Chair of the Committee on Education Finance, called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM, February 6, 2013 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Radinovich moved the minutes of February 5, 2013 be adopted.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The following individuals presented information on alternative learning programs throughout Minnesota:

Sue Boehland - Past President of the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs/former Director of the Freshwater Area Learning Center; Julie Warner - Wright Technical Center; Kathy Johnson - Mankato Central High School; Lisa Weber - Detroit Lakes Area Learning Center; Audrey Campbell, Ella Erickson, Jenna Holmer, and Zach Toth - area learning center students; Doug Froke - Superintendent of Detroit Lakes Public Schools.

HF165 (Slocum) A bill for an act relating to education finance; creating additional funding sources for students in approved recovery programs; appropriating money.

Representative Slocum moved the H0165A1 author's amendment.
THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Public testimony on HF165 was provided by the following individuals:

Valerie Dosland, Intermediate School Districts and Paul McGlynn, Sobriety High Charter School Executive Director. Each spoke in support of the bill.

Chair Marquart recognized twelfth grade students in attendance from Minnesota Transitions Charter High School.

Representative Slocum renewed her motion that, as amended, HF165 be laid over for possible inclusion in an Omnibus Education Finance Bill.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF165, AS AMENDED, FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 AM.
