MINUTES

Representative Marquart, Chair of the Committee on Education Finance, called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM, April 4, 2013 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Radinovich moved the minutes of April 3, 2013 be approved.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Newton moved HF234 (Newton) School district expiring referendum renewal by school board action authorized.

Public testimony was provided by Jerry Von Korff, School Board Vice-Chair of Independent School District 742; Trisha Hendrickson, parent of student at Sauk Rapids-Rice Schools; Daniel Bittman, Superintendent of Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools; Kate Maguire, Superintendent of Osseo Public Schools; and Dennis Carlson, Superintendent of Anoka-Hennepin Public Schools.

Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the bill presentation.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF234 FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

Representative Brynaert moved HF1058 (Winkler) Early learning scholarship program established, access to quality early learning and care expanded, and money appropriated.

Public testimony was provided by Representative Ryan Winkler; Art Rolnick, University of Minnesota; Linda Sandvig of St. Paul Public Schools; Tom Holton, Community Education Director of Bloomington/Richfield Schools; Tom Prichard, Minnesota Family Council; Nancy Jost, West Central Minnesota Initiative Fund; and Nancy Gleason, ISAIAH.

Members' questions and comments were addressed throughout the bill presentation.

CHAIR MARQUART LAID OVER HF1058 FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN AN OMNIBUS EDUCATION FINANCE BILL.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:55AM.
