Representative Pat Garofalo, Chair of the Job Growth & Energy Affordability Policy & Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:45 P.M. on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Garofalo called the meeting to order at 12:45 P.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Simonson moved to approve the minutes from the previous hearing. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1782 (Anzelc) Energy-intensive trade-exposed electric utility customers provided competitive rate schedules. This bill was laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Anzelc; Pat Mullen, Minnesota Power; Wayne Brandt, Minnesota Forest Industries; Benjamin Gerber, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce; David Lislegard, Lakehead Constructors and City of Aurora City Council; Harry Melander, St. Paul Building and Trades Council; Lori Fedo, Hibbing Chamber of Commerce; Rogerio Turatti, Gerdau Mill in St. Paul; William King, Mayor of Keewatin; Rick Cannata, Mayor of Hibbing; Benjamin DeNucci, Mayor of Nashwauk; Toliver Rapp, Cliffs Natural Resources; Julia Donnelly, International Union of Operating Engineers; Larry Sutherland, U.S. Steel Mining Solutions; Chris Masciantonio, US Steel; John Hottinger, Sierra Club Minnesota; testified on HF1782, as introduced.

Deputy Commissioner Bill Grant; Energy and Telecommunications for the Minnesota Department of Commerce; Gordon Pietsch, Director of Transmission Planning and Operations at Great River Energy; Matt Schuerger, President at Energy Systems Consulting Services, LLC; gave an overview of the November 2014 Minnesota Renewable Energy Integration and Transmission Study.

Representative Gunther assumed the gavel at 1:59 P.M.

Representative Garofalo assumed the gavel at 2:01 P.M.
