MINUTES

Representative Hackbarth, Chair of the Mining and Outdoor Recreation Policy Committee, called the eleventh meeting to order at 2:51 P.M. on Tuesday, February 24 2015, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hackbarth called the meeting to order at 2:51 P.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Metsa moved to approve the minutes of February 18, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0449 Bennett, Designating Shell Rock River for state water trail; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 85.32, subdivision 1.

Representative Hackbarth moved the bill H.F.449 be sent to the General Register.

Representative Bennett presented an overview of H.F.449.

The following people testified on H.F.449:

Bill Howe, Chair of the Shell Rock River Watershed Advisory Committee.
Susie Peterson, Executive Director of Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Representative Hackbarth renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.449 to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0793 Barrett, Establishing safety and liability relating to skier and ski area responsibilities; establishing safety and liability standards; proposing coding for new law as Minnesota Statutes, chapter 184C.

Representative Hackbarth moved the bill H.F.793 be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law and Data Practices.

Representative Barrett presented an overview of H.F.793 and took questions from committee members.

The following people testified on H.F.793 and took questions from committee members:

Amy Frischmon, Wild Mountain Recreation Owner.
Brandy Ream, Spirit Mountain Recreation Area.

Representative Hackbarth renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.793 to the Committee on Civil Law and Data Practices. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0810 Dill, Appropriating money for the Mesabi Trail; authorizing the sale and issuance of state bonds.

Representative Dill moved the bill H.F.810 be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance.

Representative Dill and Gary Cerkvenik, Mesabi Trail Representative, testified on H.F.810.

Representative Dill renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.810 to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0790 Lueck, Appropriating money for the Cuyuna County State Recreation Area; authorizing the sale and issuance of state bonds.

Representative Lueck moved the bill H.F.790 be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance.

Representative Lueck and Aaron Hautala, President of Cuyuna Mountain Bike Crew, presented an overview of H.F.790 and took questions from committee members.

Representative Lueck renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.790 to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0641 Schomacker, Appropriating money for the Casey Jones Trail; authorizing the sale and issuance of state bonds.

Representative Hackbarth moved the bill H.F.641 be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance.

Representative Schomacker and Mick Myers, President of Friends of the Casey Jones Trail, testified on H.F.641.

Representative Hackbarth renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.641 to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 P.M.
