MINUTES

Representative Loon, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:01 P.M. on March 8th, 2018 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Poston moved that the minutes of March 7th, 2018 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2836 Ecklund, Taconite assistance area modified.

Representative Loon moved HF2836 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes.

Representative Ecklund testified on HF2836.

Representative Loon renewed her motion that HF2836 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3093 Urdahl, Teacher's master's degree tax credit eligibility modified.

Representative Loon moved HF3093 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes.

Representative Urdahl testified on HF3093.

John Klaber, Executive Director, Minnesota Administrators for Special Education, also testified on HF3093.

Representative Loon renewed her motion that HF3093 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3190 Bennett, Extended time use expanded to pupils enrolled in career and technical education courses.

HF3190 was heard on an informational basis.

Representative Bennett testified on HF3190.

Dr. Curt Tryggestad, Executive Director of Perpich Center for Arts Education, provided the com-mittee an update on the school.

Other testifiers included Perpich Center for Arts Education Board Chair, Ben Vander Kooi, and Of-fice of
Legislative Auditor evaluation manager, Joel Alter.

Assistant Commissioner for the Department of Administration, Alice Roberts –Davis, provided an update on the sale of Crosswinds. Mary Dougherty Gilbert, St Paul Schools, was available to an-swer questions on Crosswinds purchase by St Paul Schools.

The Education Finance Committee was adjourned at 2:44 P.M.
