MINUTES

Representative Loon, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:03 P.M. on March 13th, 2018 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Sandstede moved that the minutes of March 8, 2017 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3062 1st Engrossment, Dean, Human services commissioner required to seek federal funding to implement an opioid awareness grant program for high school and college students, and report re-quired.

Representative Loon moved HF3062, 1st Engrossment, be re-referred to the Committee on Higher Education and Career Readiness Policy and Finance.

Representative Dean testified on HF3062, 1st Engrossment.

Representative Loon renewed her motion that HF3062, 1st Engrossment, be re-referred to Higher Education and Career Readiness Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Kresha assumed the gavel at 1:15 P.M.

HF3085 Loon, Qualified providers of mental health services clarified for innovative mental health grants to intermediate school districts.

Representative Loon moved that HF3085 be re-referred to the Committee of Ways and Means.

Representative Loon testified on HF3085.

Sandy Lewandowski, Superintendent of the Intermediate District 287, testified on HF3085.

Representative Kresha laid over HF3085 for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or for further action at a later date.

Representative Loon assumed the gavel at 1:20 P.M.

Non partisan staff provided an overview of English Learner Funding and Extended Time Revenue.

HF3166 Mariani, Extended time revenue for summer programs for students placed at correctional facilities authorized.

Representative Mariani moved that HF3166 be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Mariani moved the H3166A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPT-ED.

Representative Mariani testified on HF3166, as amended.
