MINUTES

Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, unofficially called the meeting to order at 8:15 AM on March 16, 2017, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Presentation: OLA Evaluation on Standardized Testing

Judy Randall, Deputy Legislative Auditor, gave an overview on the report from the Legislative Auditor.

David Kirchner, Office of the Legislative Auditor, gave a power point presentation on the report from the Legislative Auditor.

Representative Erickson officially called the meeting to order at 8:25AM. A quorum was present.

Representative Urdahl moved approval of the minutes from the March 9, 2017 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Molly Parker, Student Hastings Middle School, gave a student’s perspective on standardized tests.

Kevin McHenry, Assistant Commissioner with the Minnesota Department of Education, testified with MDE’s perspective on the OLA presentation, and in response to the recommendations.

Jennifer Dugan, Director of the Research and Assessment Division with the Minnesota Department of Education, stood to answer technical questions on presentation by the OLA.

The meeting adjourned at 10:01AM.
