MINUTES

Representative Sondra Erickson, Chair of the Education Innovation Policy Committee, unofficially began the meeting at 8:15 AM on February 22, 2018, in the Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Erickson officially called the meeting to order at 8:21 AM. A quorum was present.

An overview of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was presented by Brenda Cassellius, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education; Hue Nguyen, Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education; Stephanie Graff, Chief Accountability Officer of the Minnesota Department of Education; and Greg Keith, Chief Academic Officer of the Minnesota Department of Education.

A presentation on special education was given by Hue Nguyen, Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education, and Daron Korte, Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education.

Representative Daniels moved approval of the minutes from the April 4, 2017 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 9:59 AM.
