MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 9:40 AM on Friday, March 1, 2019 in Room 5 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF244 (Claflin) – School districts required to conduct radon testing.

Representative Huot moved that HF244 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Dan Tranter, Minnesota Department of Health, answered questions about HF244.

Representative Youakim renewed the motion that HF244 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill. THE BILL WAS LAID OVER.

HF491 (Demuth) – School employees, independent contractors, and persons in positions of authority who have sexual relationships with students penalties established.

Representative Erickson moved that HF491 be referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

HF1204 (Pryor) – School sexual harassment and sex discrimination laws compliance required, training required, and money appropriated.

Representative Moller moved that HF1204 be referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Her moved that HF1094 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

HF532 (Erickson) – Background checks required on all first-time teaching applicants, and mandatory reporting expanded.

Representative Erickson moved that HF532 be referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Erickson moved the H0532A1 author’s amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF1566 (Kunesh-Podein) – Substance misuse prevention instruction grant funding provided, report required, and money appropriated.

Representative Kunesh-Podein moved that HF1566 be referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Kunesh-Podein moved the H1566A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
