HF 50 (Hornstein) Cell phone use while a motor vehicle is in motion prohibited

Representative Hornstein moved adoption of the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Division report on HF 50. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Hornstein moved HF 50, as amended, be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Representative Hornstein presented HF 50 and took questions on the bill and on the proposed amendment.

Representative Torkelson moved the H0050A9 Amendment. THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Paul Aasen, MN Safety Council, answered questions about HF 50.

Andrew Lee, House Fiscal Analyst, answered questions about the fiscal note and fiscal impact of HF 50.

Representative Olson moved HF 679 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

HF 548 (Haley) Eisenhower Memorial Bridge over the Mississippi renamed Bridge of Valor

Representative Hornstein moved adoption of the Transportation Finance and Policy Division report on HF 548. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Torkelson moved HF 548 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Representative Barb Haley presented HF 548, and answered questions on the bill.

Jane Drazkowski testified in support of HF 548.

Bill Marx, House Fiscal Analyst, answered questions about the fiscal impact of HF 548.

Representative Davids asked Chair Carlson if an oral amendment to name the bridge the “Eisenhower Memorial Bridge of Valor” would be in order. Chair Carlson noted the Committee’s 24-hour rule for amendments, and later suggested that Representative Davids should write out his proposal in the event the committee chose to consider it. After discuss, Representative Davids deferred to the author of the bill and decided not to pursue any change.

Representative Torkelson renewed his motion that HF 548 be recommended to be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 1171 (Nash) Carver County Trunk Highway 25 segment designated as Captain Jeffrey Vollmer Memorial Highway

Representative Hornstein moved adoption of the Transportation Finance and Policy Division report on HF 1171. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
