MINUTES

Representative Jeanne Poppe, Chair of the Division, called the meeting to order at 9:45 AM on January 17th, 2019, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Vice Chair Brand motioned to adopt the minutes from the division meeting on January 15. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Deputy Commissioner Andrea Vaubel provided update on the federal 2018 Farm Bill with an overview on its impact on Minnesota. Peder Kjeseth, the new Government Affairs Director for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, was introduced.

Dr. Brian Buhr, Dean of the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences gave a presentation on the functions and impacts of Agricultural Research, Education, Extension, and Technology Transfer Program (AGREETT).

Dr. Joleen Hadrich and Dr. Noelle Noyes explained their research made possible by AGREETT funding.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:58 AM.
