MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of the Committee, called the virtual Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy Division meeting to order at 12:47 P.M. on May 6th, 2020. The meeting was broadcasted via Zoom and House Public Information Services. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Edelson moved to approve the minutes for the April 30th, 2020 meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

HF 2711 (Mariani) Public safety provisions modified including corrections, crime, and firearms; reports required; penalties provided; corrections, public safety, Sentencing Guidelines, Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, and Private Detective Board funding provided; and money appropriated.

Representative Novotny moved to amend the A20-0767 Amendment, as amended, with the A7 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Johnson moved to amend the A20-0767 Amendment, as amended, with the A8 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative O’Neill moved to amend the A20-0767 Amendment with the A9 Amendment.

Representative O’Neill withdrew the A9 Amendment to the A20-0767 Amendment.

Representative O’Neill moved to amend the A20-0767 Amendment with the A10 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Note:
*The language in HF 2711 will be deleted and replaced with the A20-0767 Amendment that contains a House Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform omnibus bill.
*The provisions within HF 8 and HF 9 will not be in this bill.
**The HF 4540 A4 Amendment will remove all the language from HF 4540 with the exception of the DOC Deficiency request.
***The Committee has be authorized to reconvene at 6pm should we not finish hearing these bills by 2:15 pm
