MINUTES

Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:30am on March 8, 2022, pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcasted via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Jordan moved that the minutes from March 3, 2022, be approved. Motion prevailed.

Presentation from the Office of the Legislative Auditor on their findings and recommendations related to Minnesota Department of Education’s role in addressing the achievement gap.

HF 3434 (Rep. Frazier) - Ethnic studies requirement created; task force authorized.

Rep. Richardson moved that HF 3434 be presented before the committee; be laid over for further consideration and possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.

Chair Davnie moved that the A2 author’s amendment to HF 3434 be presented to and adopted by the committee. A voice vote was taken. Motion prevailed; the amendment was adopted.

Rep. Frazier presented HF 3434, as amended.

Rep. Richardson renewed the motion to lay over HF 3434, as amended, for possible inclusion or for further consideration at a later date.
