COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Connie Bernardy, Chair of the Higher Education Finance and Policy Division, called the virtual committee meeting to order at 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday March 10, 2021 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Noor moved to approve the minutes from March 9, 2021. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Christensen assumed the gavel at 3:33 PM.
HF 1181 (Bernardy) - Higher education policy changes made, including student access restrictions to transcripts, grant and loan program modifications, school accountability provisions, and college savings plans.

Chair Bernardy moved that HF 1181 referred to the Committee on Labor, Industry, Veterans and Military Affairs.

Chair Bernardy moved the A4 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Bernardy moved the A3 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Bernardy presented HF 1181 to the committee.

Representative O’Neill presented an oral amendment in place of the A1 amendment.

Oral amendment:
Page 5, line 3, reinstate the stricken language, delete the new language, and delete “$70,000” and insert “$250,000”

Page 5, line 4, delete “the annual limit” and insert “the maximum amount of outstanding loans refinanced”

THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Bernardy renewed her motion that HF 1181 be referred to the Committee on Labor, Industry, Veterans and Military Affairs.

The clerk took the roll.
