MINUTES

Representative Michael Nelson, Chair of the Labor and Industry Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:04 PM on March 16, 2023 in Room 10 of the State Office Building. It was broadcast via House Public Information Services.

A quorum was present.

Lead McDonald moved to approve the minutes from March 14, 2023. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1625 (Her); Employers prohibited from inquiring about past pay.

Chair Nelson moved that HF 1625 be re-referred to the General Register.

Lead McDonald moved the A4 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Her presented HF 1625, as amended.

The following testified on HF 1625:
• Rebecca Lucero, Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Human Rights

Chair Nelson renewed the motion that HF 1625, as amended, be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1831 (Greenman); Restrictive franchise agreements prohibited.

Representative Greenman moved that HF 1831 be re-referred to the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee.

Representative Greenman presented HF 1831.

The following testified on HF 1831:
• Aaron Sojourner, Researcher, Upjohn Institute

Representative Greenman renewed the motion that HF 1831 be re-referred to the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Berg assumed the gavel 1:42 PM.

HF 2687 (Nelson); Elevator contractor licensing requirements for work on equipment modified.

Chair Nelson moved that HF 2687 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Chair Nelson presented HF 2687.

The following testified on HF 2687:
• Adam Duininck, Director of Government Affairs, North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters
• Amos Briggs, Lobbyist, Lockridge Grindel Nauen

Chair Nelson renewed the motion that HF 2687 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.
