PUBLIC SAFETY FINANCE AND POLICY MINUTES

Representative Kelly Moller, Chair of the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM on February 28, 2023, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Hollins moved that the minutes from February 21, 2023, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 406 (Berg) Carbon monoxide alarm requirements modified for hotels and lodging houses, and safety warning for violation required.

Chair Moller moved that HF 406 be re-referred to the Committee on Labor and Industry Finance and Policy.

Rep. Berg presented HF 406.

Chair Moller renewed the motion that HF 406 be re-referred to the Committee on Labor and Industry Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1406 (Frazier) Liability for felony murder committed by another person limited, task force on aiding and abetting felony murder extended, and report provided.

Rep. Frazier moved that HF 1406 be re-referred to the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.

Rep. Frazier presented HF 1406.

Rep. Frazier renewed the motion that HF 1406 be re-referred to the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1607 (Long) Limit of five years on the length of probation in most felony sentences established, and retroactive application provided.

Chair Moller moved to lay over HF 1607.

Chair Moller moved the H1607A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Long presented HF 1607, as amended.

HF 1279 (Edelson) State required to pay medical examination costs for criminal sexual conduct victim.

Chair Moller moved to lay over HF 1279.

Chair Moller moved the H1279A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDEMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Edelson presented HF 1279, as amended.

Chair Moller moved to change the previous motion to lay over HF 1279 to a motion to re-refer HF 1279, as amended, to the Committee on Health Finance and Policy.

Chair Moller renewed the motion that HF 1279, as amended, be re-referred to the Committee on Health Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:25 PM.
