1.4    "Sec. 12. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 144.9504, is amended by adding a
1.5subdivision to read:
1.6    Subd. 12. Blood lead level guidelines. By January 1, 2010, the commissioner
1.7must revise clinical and case management guidelines to include recommendations for
1.8health-protective actions and follow-up services when a child's blood lead level exceeds 5
1.9micrograms of lead per deciliter of blood. The revised guidelines must be implemented to
1.10the extent possible using available resources."
1.11Page 36, after line 18, insert:

1.12    "Sec. 45. BLOOD LEAD LEVEL GUIDELINES REVISION; CONSULTATION
1.13REQUIRED.
1.14In revising the clinical and case management guidelines for blood lead levels
1.15greater than 5 micrograms of lead per deciliter of blood under Minnesota Statutes, section
1.16144.9504, subdivision 12, the commissioner of health must consult with a statewide
1.17organization representing physicians, the public health department of Minneapolis and
1.18other public health departments, and a nonprofit organization with expertise in lead
