Representative Patti Fritz, Vice-Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:06 A.M. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Loeffler moved that the minutes of April 22, 2008 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Informational hearing on child welfare
Overview of the over-representation of African American children: why the legislation was created in 2001 and where we are today:

Marquita Stephens, African American Adoption

Chair Thissen assumed the gavel at 10:27 A.M.

The results of the 2002 African American Disparities Report and what the African American Disparities Committee has been working on since then:
