Rep. Howard applauds Governor’s Strong Housing Proposal

Monday, January 23, 2023

St. Paul, MN - Today, Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan announced a series of proposals to protect Minnesotans’ health and safety, including $1.5 billion in investments to end veterans’ homelessness, increase affordable housing across Minnesota, and prevent homelessness before it occurs.

State Representative Michael Howard (DFL - Richfield), Chair of the Housing Finance and Policy Committee in the Minnesota House, released the following statement:

"We are in a build-or-break moment to address our state's housing crisis, from addressing rising homelessness and evictions to eliminating our unacceptable gap in racial home ownership. Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan have proposed a strong budget aimed at creating and preserving affordable homes across the housing continuum. I am thrilled to partner with the administration as well as with Senator Port and the Senate DFL Majority to meet this moment and make the dream of a home attainable for every Minnesotan."
