Capitol Newsletter from Rep. Andrew Myers

Friday, January 27, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

It’s been a busy week as the legislative session has kicked into high gear with committee hearings, constituent meetings at my office in St. Paul, and lengthy floor debates filling much of my days. As always, it is an honor to represent you, your family, and Your Backyard in the House of Representatives.

Since taking office earlier this month, I have been working on several local issues that I am hoping we can get across the finish line this year. They include funding to improve water quality and build water treatment facilities in Mound and surrounding cities, helping local food shelves provide food for families in need, addressing a local tax issue in Excelsior, making sure our schools have the resources they need to provide the best education to our students possible, and addressing local infrastructure needs.

In addition to these local issues, I am working on a domestic violence prevention bill, exploring ways to make Minnesota more affordable including eliminating the state tax on social security benefits, and improving access and affordability for mental health care.

These are all issues that are really important to families in our area and around the state. Stay tuned for more details on the bills I am working on to address these needs in the weeks ahead.

As your representative in St. Paul, I am committed to working across the aisle to make sure perspectives from across the political spectrum are considered when we make policy decisions. As someone that has always been a consensus builder and collaborator, I look forward to this work and strongly encourage you to reach out to me to share any thoughts, comments, or concerns you may have. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-9188 or via email at rep.andrew.myers@house.mn.gov.

Have a great weekend,

Andrew
