1.1 A house resolution 1.2 congratulating the Dammann family on being named the 1.3 2001 McLeod County Farm Family of the Year. 1.4 1.5 WHEREAS, family farms feed our nation and form the backbone 1.6 of our rural communities, and those family farms that have 1.7 particularly dedicated themselves to hard work, cooperation, and 1.8 the pursuit of excellence are deserving of special recognition; 1.9 and 1.10 WHEREAS, the Dammann family, made up of parents Donald and 1.11 Carol and children Michele Dammann, Mitchell Dammann, Marshall 1.12 Dammann, and Marilee Peterson and her husband Daryl and their 1.13 son Branstyn, has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to 1.14 enhancing the fields of agriculture and production while 1.15 maintaining an extremely active role in their community and 1.16 local civic organizations; and 1.17 WHEREAS, the Dammann farm, Pit-Stop Dairy, is located in 1.18 Helen Township, near Glencoe in McLeod County, Minnesota, and is 1.19 primarily dedicated to growing feed and raising livestock for 1.20 the dairy operation, although the family has also devoted some 1.21 of its resources toward the raising of poultry; and 1.22 WHEREAS, all of the Dammann children play a role in the 1.23 dairy helping with the family business, and the entire family 1.24 has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to their community, 2.1 maintaining active membership in such organizations as FFA, the 2.2 VFW and VFW Auxiliary, and 4-H, all the while remaining active 2.3 churchgoers and participating in numerous church and 2.4 volunteering activities, such as the Minnesota Department of 2.5 Agriculture's "Ag in the Classroom" program; and 2.6 WHEREAS, the Dammanns have received several awards from 2.7 Bongards Creamery and the McLeod County DHIA for their Somatic 2.8 Cell Count (SCC) and production levels, and the family's 2.9 children have exhibited their cattle and poultry both at the 2.10 Sibley County Fair and the State Fair, winning numerous ribbons, 2.11 including Champion Showmanship Honors; and 2.12 WHEREAS, because of these achievements, the Dammann family 2.13 has been named the McLeod County Farm Family of the Year for 2.14 2001, by the Minnesota Extension Service at the University of 2.15 Minnesota, and they will be honored at a Recognition Banquet on 2.16 March 1, 2001; NOW, THEREFORE, 2.17 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State 2.18 of Minnesota that it congratulates the Dammann family on winning 2.19 the Farm Family of the Year award and commends their spirit of 2.20 teamwork and cooperation, while extending best wishes to Donald, 2.21 Carol, Michele, Mitchell, Marshall, Marilee, Daryl, and Branstyn 2.22 for the future. 2.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Clerk of the House of 2.24 Representatives is directed to prepare an enrolled copy of this 2.25 resolution, to be authenticated by his signature and that of the 2.26 Speaker, and transmit it to the Dammann family.
