04-6100 1.1 A house resolution 1.2 remembering Molly Cade. 1.3 1.4 WHEREAS, Molly Cade, president of the Minnesota Ovarian 1.5 Cancer Alliance, MOCA, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003; 1.6 and 1.7 WHEREAS, Molly's passion that no woman should have to be 1.8 alone while enduring ovarian cancer led her to found MOCA in 1.9 1999; and 1.10 WHEREAS, MOCA raised over $700,000 in its first four years 1.11 to fund Minnesota researchers in ovarian cancer, making MOCA one 1.12 of the largest sponsors of ovarian cancer research in the United 1.13 States; and 1.14 WHEREAS, Molly epitomized what it means to "thrive" with 1.15 cancer; and 1.16 WHEREAS, Molly's tireless energy inspired hundreds of 1.17 ovarian cancer survivors, their families, and friends; and 1.18 WHEREAS, Molly was recognized for her work by Blue 1.19 Cross/Blue Shield, Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine, and the 1.20 Minnesota Oncology Hematology Foundation; and 1.21 WHEREAS, Molly touched countless lives as a teacher, 1.22 business leader, advocate, and woman of faith; and 1.23 WHEREAS, Molly Cade was instrumental in creating MOCA's 1.24 annual walk/run event which was attended by Governor Pawlenty in 2.1 September 2003 and MOCA will hold its 5th annual event in 2004; 2.2 NOW, THEREFORE, 2.3 BE IT RESOLVED by the Committee on Rules and Legislative 2.4 Administration of the House of Representatives of the State of 2.5 Minnesota that it honors Molly Cade for her inspiring lifework 2.6 as a pioneer and advocate for ovarian cancer research, her 2.7 commitment to early identification and prevention of this 2.8 life-threatening disease, and her work in saving the lives of 2.9 countless women in Minnesota.
