RELEASE: Statement from Leader Daudt on Gov. Walz SOTS

Sunday, April 5, 2020

ST. PAUL, MN — House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, issued the following statement regarding Gov. Walz's State of the State Address.

"We echo Governor Walz's praise for the Minnesota heroes who are caring for the sick, protecting our communities, educating our kids, and keeping our state moving," Daudt said. "Data is already indicating that by staying at home Minnesotans are doing their part to stop the spread of the virus and save many lives. Every day that Minnesotans remain in place brings us one day closer reopening our economy and returning to life as normal.

"The legislature continues to work with the Walz administration to help Minnesota prepare, respond, and eventually defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, and to help families and businesses whose lives have been turned upside-down over the past month. We urge the Governor to listen to the frustrations Minnesotans are expressing, and to exercise compassion and common sense as he evaluates the Stay at Home order. We applaud his move to give flexibility to dock workers and DMV offices; he should apply that same flexibility to other businesses that can continue their operations safely," Daudt concluded.

Leader Daudt delivered a formal response to Gov. Walz's State of the State live on Minnesota News Network radio, which you can listen to here. He also held a media availability which you can watch courtesy of Minnesota House Information Services here
