Rep. Zeleznikar Statement on Hibbing Taconite Mining Layoffs

St. Paul, MN — Hibbing Taconite announced that 45 positions will be eliminated on February 1st as part of a restructuring based on operational needs. Representative Natalie Zeleznikar (R-Fredenberg Township) issued the following statement in response. 

"My heart goes out to the workers and families who are affected by this decision. Union members are now facing real uncertainty, and that weighs heavily on our entire region. Mining is at the core of the Iron Range, and while this news is devastating, it does not weaken the character or strength of our communities. The Iron Range has always taken care of its own, and I encourage anyone impacted to reach out if I can be of support."
