Coming Up: February 16th Town Hall

The 2026 Legislative Session starts in just over a week. What policies are most important to you? I am seeking your feedback, and I would love for you to join me in a discussion regarding your top legislative priorities for the upcoming year!

Immigration Update

After encouraging a month of street violence to draw media attention away from Minnesota's fraud crisis, Governor Walz has finally begun to take some measures to start working with the federal government on enforcing immigration law. However, were it not for Minneapolis and St. Paul adhering to ridiculous "sanctuary city" policies, which bar local law enforcement from assisting federal officers, none of this chaos and disorder would have happened in the first place. I have long been a champion for coordinating law enforcement from the federal, state, and local levels. Below are bills that I have been involved with that will prevent a similar situation from occurring again.

  1. I am an author of H.F.16, which seeks to promote the sharing of immigration data gathered by state and local entities with federal immigration authorities, by preventing state and local officials from refusing requests for cooperation. Another key feature of this bill, is that county attorneys will be required to report illegal immigrants who are arrested for a violent crime. This gives us the greatest chance to get violent illegal immigrants off of our streets and out of our country, to promote and enhance safety in our communities.
  2. I am the chief author of H.F.2351, which is a bill that I brought forward during last year's 2025 Legislative Session. It would ban sanctuary cities in Minnesota, which would prevent the tragedies that unfolded last month from happening again. Additionally, the bill enhances protections for American workers, ensuring that Minnesota employers do not knowingly hire illegal immigrants or engage in human and labor trafficking. Frankly, Minnesota's labor laws should be updated to put Minnesota workers first.

Minnesota Citizens Concerned For Life

Thanks to the many people from our community who attended the March For Life in St. Paul in the bitter cold. Later that week, I was glad to have been able to attend the Morrison County Chapter annual dinner of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life. The energy at both events was vibrant and optimistic, and the cause of standing up for the rights of the unborn remains a top priority of mine at the State Capitol. We have so much work to do in the months and years to come to restore protections for every unborn human life. I'm honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in this fight for Life!

Mille Lacs County Board Meeting

Late last month, I appreciated connecting with members of the Mille Lacs County Board to discuss the ways in which Minnesota's state and local governments can use artificial intelligence to detect signs of waste, fraud, and abuse, as well as other legislative priorities for the 2026 Session. Then, last week, I was glad to see the Mille Lacs County Board take action to request the U.S. Department of the Interior to vacate the M-37032 opinion from 2015 regarding the land boundaries of the Mille Lacs Band on the south side of Mille Lacs Lake. This is a very important issue for the economic security and long-term sustainability of the region, not to mention the generations of people who have lived there under the same understanding for well over 160 years, before the Obama Administration drastically changed the direction, impacting the reservation boundaries.

I look forward to seeing you at my upcoming town hall and to continue advocating on your behalf in St. Paul.
