Helping With Your State Agency Difficulties

Friends and neighbors,

Recently, a woman in my district reached out to me regarding a delay she was having with a state agency approval. I was able to contact the agency, and her application was approved in a timely manner. I am so pleased that she has found a successful resolution to her problem. If you are having difficulty or something is not working out with a state agency, please email me with details, and I will do everything within my power to help you.

The reason that I am involved in politics is to have a positive impact on people's lives. When legislation is passed at the State Capitol, we don't always get to see the names and faces of the people helped by it. When I can do something to help a constituent who reaches out, it is the best part of the job.

Please know that I am just an email or phone call away:

School Safety Legislation

This week, House Republicans put forward a series of seven bills pertaining to school safety. I am proud to support safety legislation for all school students: public, charter, private, and tribal. Parents are understandably very concerned for the well-being of their children in school, and these bills provide funding and disciplinary authority to schools, so that they can best mitigate risk.

The bills provide for:

  • $50 million in one-time grants for school facility upgrades for public and
    non-public schools.
  • $50 million per year increase in safe schools revenue.
  • $2.5 million per year increase in funding for school-linked mental health
    grants.
  • Anonymous Threat Reporting System Opt-In.
  • Increased flexibility for Student Support Personnel Aid revenue.
  • $500,000 in one-time funding for School Safety Plans Opt-In.
  • K-3 Dismissal Reform.

Unfortunately, we could not get one House DFL member to vote alongside us on any of these important measures. I believe that we should be coming together to pass measures that we can agree on. I know DFL legislators who wanted to vote for our bills, but were told not to by their leadership as a political bargaining tool.

I will continue to have conversations with my DFL colleagues in an effort to change their minds.

Byron Bear Basketball All-Star

The athletic wins keep rolling in for our area!

I would like to extend a big congratulations to Byron Bear Madison Ohm for her recent win in the 3-Point Contest at the Minnesota Girls Basketball All-Star Series! It is so inspiring to watch our high school athletes perform, and we could not be prouder of her achievement!
