May 19, 2026 Session Recap: We Demanded Our Money Back, and House Republicans Delivered!Friends and Neighbors, The 2026 Legislative Session has officially come to a close. At the beginning of this session, I told you that my focus would be centered on a simple promise: "We Demand Our Money Back!" Today, I am proud to report that House Republicans delivered on that promise with major victories for taxpayers.
Here is a recap of what we accomplished for you this year: Cutting Taxes: Secured $250 million in lower car tab fees and $125 million in property tax relief through the Homestead Credit Refund. This will return $200 to $350 to most homeowners in our area, in addition to providing hundreds of dollars in car tab savings. We also passed Federal Tax Conformity for businesses, including the Pass-Through Entity Tax and Section 179. Fighting Fraud: Passed aggressive new measures to stop the state's fraud epidemic. This includes rewriting human services policies to withhold payments following credible fraud allegations, changing grant management policies to block funds from convicted fraudsters, expanding prior authorization for Medicaid providers, and enforcing electronic visit verification. Holding Government Accountable: Passed our signature legislation to establish a truly Independent Office of the Inspector General. This nonpartisan office holds broad authority to investigate, enforce, and prosecute government agencies, bureaucrats, and fraudsters who abuse your tax dollars. Defending Constitutional Rights: We held the line. The radical gun control agenda was defeated in the House of Representatives. Republicans rejected the countless attempts to take away your rights and your ability to defend your home and your family.
There will be much more to unpack in the coming weeks, but I am grateful for these positive results. Thank you for the privilege of representing our community.
